Here are some sketches I did. :)

There are a few young Decker's mixed in with some old ones. I should probably push the shapes a bit more...

Also, I'm not sure what I should do moving forward: more ideations or start planning my animation?

I like it but like you said, you should push the shapes more. Also I think you should go ahead and start planning the animation. Nice Work!

I don't think you should push the shapes too much more. Then we start to lose the tone we are looking for and start moving into the "Disney" realm haha If that makes sense.
